Nugget Chicken Mc

Ok, so if you know me you might know that I cruise the craigslist "pet" section often and look at all the sad little doggies that need homes after I come home from work and go to bed sad for them. i used to look at la animal services, craigslist is a little bit less sad. So then last week, I came across this picture of this little guy they were calling "shorty".

(she is much smaller and MUCH cuter when i saw her in person)
I bookmarked the post like i've done to many in the past, but for some reason, i knew she was the one. she was in san bernadino so we drove 2 hours to get to the shelter only to find out that they thought we werent coming for her and had just given her to a rescue. she told us to look around , which i didnt want to do b/c i didnt drive out there to peruse the san bernadino city shelter. i did anyway, but i wanted to find "shorty", so i went back in to get that info, but the adoption lady went to lunch and would be back in an hour. ack.
I don't know if you've ever been out there, but killing time in san bernadino is not that fun.
we come back and she calls a few people and no answer and we're just hanging out at the animal shelter for another 2 hours waiting for some kind of response and she finally calls back and tells us that the rescue dropped her off at her foster mom's house in palm springs!
We're driving out there and at this point, already paid for her and basically adopted her sight unseen, but for some reason i never doubted that she was for me. when we finally saw her she came running out and was SO insanely cute and sweet it was all totally worth it.
So... dun da duh dunnnnn.... Here's Nugget! (we changed her name)
She's about 2 yrs old and was an owner surrender, an owner who told the adoption officer that he'd almost rather kill her and bury her himself than pay the $25 fee for surrendering your pet to the shelter. (OMG!)
She is so calm and sweet and cute (I'm hoping this will rub off on Påpi) and we love love love her.

Look at that face!

So cute, and Påpi's showing off for a dog treat, he actually came programmed with that feature b/c i certainly did not teach him that.
anyway, i hope you get to meet her. she's awesome.
And if you're considering getting a pet, please seriously consider rescuing one from a shelter or rescue.
There are tens of thousands of unwanted dogs euthanized each year, and that's in Los Angeles county alone!
After Påpi, I told myself I would not get another full grown dog from the shelter again b/c you don't know what you're getting and he has such bad behavioral problems, but that is not always the case, and I'm SO glad i didn't stick to that, because then i wouldn't have little nugs.
