ba dum pum

today my stupid little dog, who i love very much, bit some guy on the street and when i told my friend about it he asked me "are you going to put him down"?
to which i replied, "do you really think insults will help"?
see, i think that's hilarious.
anybody? no, no one?
well maybe i've been watching a little too much golden girls, but i think it's right on the money.

bbs + yyy = tlf

it's a family affair

house warming party for jenny and mike
so many old friends there it was like a family reunion
it was a bbq and i was starving but when i got there i was so excited to see everyone that i wasn't hungry anymore
it was like being hugged for 3 hours, it felt awesome.
oh! and i got to hold my first baby ever!

This is little Taiju, he's 8 weeks old and the cutest little peanut!
look at his funny little face.
I was totally nervous and sweaty.
This is his big sister Noa, her dad Yoshi, and a highly anticipated cupcake.
she's 4 and so funny and cute.

we played with the mailbox for like 45 minutes.
while we were playing she said, "come on mom", and on the inside i was thinking, "omg i would TOTALLY be your mom".
Hiroko, her real mom is awesome, we met in college in the dorms. I turned in my housing application late, so I was put in the exchange student housing.
I've never really been around kids so I didn't know how I felt about them, turns out, they're pretty cool.
This is Richard and Taiju. Richie is one of my oldest and closest friends, we also met in college in the dorms, freshman year, he lived right above me. He is getting married in less than two months!
He's the first one of my core friends to take the plunge. Way to go Richie!

Look at pregnant Kathy. Four more months and I get to hold another baby!

And it wouldn't be right if I made a post without throwing some dogs in the mix...
Szebie chooch was there

along with his sister Darla

Ta Dah!

dog whispers

field trip to my parents desert house with oprah and beyonce

my mom gave them a piece of salmon. after that they followed her wherever she went.

my mom also couldn't remember 'rufus' and kept calling him 'recipe'. then i would correct her and she would say, "ahhhh rupees-ah".

then i went to go hang out with big baby bolo while his dad was away.

look how sad he looks. i kept him busy with yip yaps and buddy biscuits to make up for the fact that i was not his dad.

howdy doody

if you've been in my truck then you've probably seen the little black cowboy hat that hangs from the rear view window.
when my dog is in my truck he likes to get up on the dash and look out the window.
if you look at him at the right angle, it totally looks like he is wearing this tiny cowboy hat.
it kills me evertime. really
it is so funny.

bffs for real

I got to have dinner with some really close friends whom I have not connected with in a long time and it felt good.
kathy and drew are pregnant, richie and shinobu are getting married in november!
i met richie in the dorms in college. he lived upstairs from me and the first time we met was in the common kitchen upstairs.
i couldnt' sleep and was eating ramen and he was putting acid on sugar cubes.
we've been like family ever since and he means the world to me.
congratulations richie!

jenny cho and mike semple.
they just bought a house in highland park, real close to my studio.
i hope that means i'll get to see them more often.
jenny is my unnee and i love her.

my oldest road dog, kevin.
we've know each other for 12 years now?
and best friends for most of them, with a few bumps in the road here and there.
i'm glad he's back in my life.
i know him real well and still love him all the way.

steven murashige.
steven just directed a commercial in mexico city and got to pet a baby tiger.

I'm so lucky to have them in my life. My heart swells with pride to know them.

Vita Boheme of the Manhattan Bohemes

these are the kids ash and i met at the movies a while back.
he gave them free ozzfest tickets.
ash was wondering what to do with these four tickets (he gets them through work), then they walked by.
the one on the right said that he couldn't go because he had band practice.
They were holding a fund raiser for his little brother's Eagle Scout project at their community center.
I overheard him saying that his dad's band is gonna play, then his, then his little brother's.
The one on the far left is in his little brothers band and was the most excited and totally adorable.

I am having a hard time deciding which Swayze performance was more stellar: tough, tender, but fair in Roadhouse, or benevolent southern belle in To Wong Foo. I really think To Wong Foo is a Patrick Swayze tour de force.

ding dang it

everytime i try to upload a picture, it crashes.
i haven't updated in forever, i know
i've been real busy moving into my new studio space (yippee) and trying to get some shit done.
you know what that means? my bedroom will be just that. no office/workroom/sweatshop/bedroom.
just bed.room.

jen and i are sharing this space in eagle rock. it is right next to a boys home. i think that means orphanage?
i also need to get pictures of our new air hockey table(!!!) our clubhouse is gonna be the coolest.
we will hold a tournament/pizza party soon. i've played twice and both times i kicked ass. not really, i got creamed both times.
nathan and joe bob are masters of the universe for delving deep into the valley with me to pick it up.
henry is a champ and jason gets an a for effort.
extra kudos to lasagna for driving the uhaul and the verbal abuse. i owe you one, friend.

i've literally been in bed all day. i'm sick. boo.
well i went downtown for about an hour to deal with production.
looks like everything is on time and a-ok! this makes me happy and feel like a good person.
i think this new space will make all my dreams come true.
i won't go on any longer seems how i have no pictures and what is that? BOOOOORING.
xo,
s

It's the big top pee wee

Pee Wee's Big Adventure at the cemetary last nigt.
Thousands showed up, hundreds were turned away and we were the last to be let in the gates.
Paul Ruebens, E.G. Daily, Francis, Chuck, Simone...They all showed.
It was incredible. I was doubled over in laughter and laughed the hardest I had in a while.
Vegan feast and beers with Jen, Jovita, and Brian.
Summer rules.
