This would be the way to do it.

perfect summer music

i'm really feeling moonrats love lately.
their new stuff is flipping my lid. ok!

Solange Knowles

nugget rooney

update on nuggernaut: she is getting much better and eating like a little hog!
papi is also on the up and up and never lost his appetite, he's a trooper. always has been.
i took nugget over to hotdog and kevin's place today and she was awesome.
we watched game 5 of the playoffs and i realized today that i only really enjoy the last ten minutes of a basketball game. it's thrilling and i find myself yelling at the tv. as for the other 3 quarters and whatever minutes...meh
but this is a big deal to someone who has really zero interest in watching sports, ever.
my stupid iphoto will not open. it's been a weeks and i'm bummed. i have no idea what could be wrong. any suggestions?
sorry for no pictures. bo-ring!

babes

i went to vegas this weekend for jenny cho's bachelorette party. it was the most fun i've ever had in vegas.
contributing to that is the fact that i could not lose on slots. i have never won before but this time i was on fire.
i won $900 my first day, $300 my second day. Then proceeded to lose it all in the last couple hours i was there. ouch.
still. it was totally fun and not a dick straw in sight!
i'll post pictures soon.
on a sad note, both my dogs have kennel cough and poor little nugget is not doing so well.
she hardly eats and is so thin and lethargic and sad.
i'm taking her to the vet again tomorrow. she seemed to be on the up and up a couple days ago, now, i don't know.
see what happens when i'm away?

Nugget Chicken Mc

Ok, so if you know me you might know that I cruise the craigslist "pet" section often and look at all the sad little doggies that need homes after I come home from work and go to bed sad for them. i used to look at la animal services, craigslist is a little bit less sad. So then last week, I came across this picture of this little guy they were calling "shorty".

(she is much smaller and MUCH cuter when i saw her in person)
I bookmarked the post like i've done to many in the past, but for some reason, i knew she was the one. she was in san bernadino so we drove 2 hours to get to the shelter only to find out that they thought we werent coming for her and had just given her to a rescue. she told us to look around , which i didnt want to do b/c i didnt drive out there to peruse the san bernadino city shelter. i did anyway, but i wanted to find "shorty", so i went back in to get that info, but the adoption lady went to lunch and would be back in an hour. ack.
I don't know if you've ever been out there, but killing time in san bernadino is not that fun.
we come back and she calls a few people and no answer and we're just hanging out at the animal shelter for another 2 hours waiting for some kind of response and she finally calls back and tells us that the rescue dropped her off at her foster mom's house in palm springs!
We're driving out there and at this point, already paid for her and basically adopted her sight unseen, but for some reason i never doubted that she was for me. when we finally saw her she came running out and was SO insanely cute and sweet it was all totally worth it.
So... dun da duh dunnnnn.... Here's Nugget! (we changed her name)
She's about 2 yrs old and was an owner surrender, an owner who told the adoption officer that he'd almost rather kill her and bury her himself than pay the $25 fee for surrendering your pet to the shelter. (OMG!)
She is so calm and sweet and cute (I'm hoping this will rub off on Påpi) and we love love love her.

Look at that face!

So cute, and Påpi's showing off for a dog treat, he actually came programmed with that feature b/c i certainly did not teach him that.
anyway, i hope you get to meet her. she's awesome.
And if you're considering getting a pet, please seriously consider rescuing one from a shelter or rescue.
There are tens of thousands of unwanted dogs euthanized each year, and that's in Los Angeles county alone!
After Påpi, I told myself I would not get another full grown dog from the shelter again b/c you don't know what you're getting and he has such bad behavioral problems, but that is not always the case, and I'm SO glad i didn't stick to that, because then i wouldn't have little nugs.

gemini taurus cusp

yesterday was my birthday and it was great!
i got sang to when i woke up then i got mani pedis and sushi and went to the echo and saw moonrats and cave singers. i love moonrats and zollo sang a song with cave singers and it was so beautiful that it made me tear up just a bit. i missed tolsatd but i did get the best shirt ever. it's got a boner on it. it made me feel really good to have such good, talented friends and i felt very proud watching them. i rarely go out and now i really don't know why i don't. it's so fun to socialize outside of work. anyways, i love my friends and they make me feel loved, so thanks for being so nice to me.
today triz

is going to bring over 5 big bags of top soil, oh boy! so we can get our garden started.

spring cleaning

Hi.
My boyfriend is prettier than me. I have no eyebrows.
We put our biore strips on upside down, but it was still as disgustingly satisfying when we pulled them off.
We've been spending most of our free time moving into and setting up our new place and travis has spent a lot of time in the sun getting our backyard in shape so that we can enjoy it this summer and papi's been generally cute and sometimes ornery as usual.
I've been sick for about a week and i'm really tired of it. i'm going to go watch 'the great debaters' now because i have a headache.

letter b

i have always hated the beatles, growing up.
i just didn't get it.
why, what's the big deal.
and in the stones vs beatles debate the answer to me was clear.
until a couple years ago.
first nathan let me listen to a couple songs.
and one day opening the bar when no one else was in there, the let it be album was leaning against the record player and i figured, why not, no one's here.
and i nearly cried.
it made me nostalgic for a time that I wasnt even in.
and how lucky for that to be your contemporary, for them to be your compeers.
and now, after hearing this song at least a hundred times in my lifetime.
watching this video breaks my heart.
knowing that it was towards the end, everyone resentful and unhappy,
but making something so beautiful that almost 40 yrs later makes some girl in california cry.
i'm actually glad i've never really listened to the beatles until now
because it's all totally new to me

ooh wah do lang do lang

omygod PLEASE somebody buy this for me.
i need it
it's hard to find a good 60s girl group comp, or even a whole album since back they were released as singles.
but this! this rules.
i'm "reading" the phil spector biography right now.
it's awesome.
can't wait to get back to it.
i just got to "river deep, mountain low"
despite their personal policies, i pretty much flip for anything phil spector or ike turner produced.
xoxo
going crazy in my garage,

white out

oh my god, who cares!
my last post, what a dorky person i am.
i should just delete it, but then what's the point of having a stupid blog, it's all a big "who cares" isn't it?
anyway, it reminds me of the time, years ago in seattle, when jake wanted to break up with me because i was singing along
to a, jeez what's the name of that band with the big fat guy who has a magazine of harmonicas? Popper, Blues Traveler!
We were sitting in the sea wolf and that song came on and i professed my love for it and knew all the words and jake threatened to break up with me.
twice a year i will be bonkers for a couple weeks before market and that will just be that.
so around january and october of every year...grain of salt.
or maybe when you are stressed it's your real self coming out and the rest of the year you are just sucking in.
i'm trying to decide if chewing with your mouth open, though obnoxious, makes your food taste better.
you know, the oxygen mixing with it, you breathing in more. i think it does, but i have more testing to do before i make any conclusions. i eat out quite a bit and this is not something you do in public, so it may take a while, but i'm thinking yes.

in unrelated not really news, here are some blast from the past pictures which are really badly framed and all around bad pictures, but reminds me of a nice time.

it's me and my mom after my gen art show almost 2 years ago. my mom ran up after the show and gave me those flowers. aw cute!
and look in the back, it's cutie face jen! texting or something.
jen helped me out so much and basically managed the whole back stage goings on and took over when i was too stressed to even talk and got all boss of the hotsauce for me.
thanks jen, you're a good friend. (have fun in hawaii!)
also in unrelated kind of news:
SEPARATED AT BIRTH?

aahhh hahahahahahaha
this is hilarious.
and look at his bulge, I'm SO sure.
as embarrassing as it is, i am really excited to see the new rock of love.
and i mean embarrassing as in, you are really embarrassed for the women on the show and for brett.
also in almost news:
i've had this blog for almost 2 years! holy moly. i started it in april 06.
i supposed the number of things that i have kept up for over a year is growing.

who am i

i am totally in love with yo-yo ma.
i've just heard his music for the first time and i nearly cried.
it's so beautiful i cant stand it.
then i listened to his colabo with, eek, bobby mcferrin and i smiled at how cute the two are and imagined an odd couple type relationship. the uptight yo-yo ma and that unpredictable bobby. oh the hijinx. but you bring the two together and , oh you get the picture.

i am not exactly sure the kind of person i am turning into these days, wearing white keds and driving a mini van with a short hairdo. i am totally momming out and loving it. jeez what's next, manhattan transfer?
I also downloaded the Tord Gustaven Trio and i like it even if it's kinda starbucksy. if anyone has any suggestions on good classical and jazz albums to get please please let me know as this is an area i am almost totally ignorant to.
I have grown tired of most of the 50 gigs of music in my library and am really hungry for something new (to me) and stimulating.
Different note, Travis took me to Disneyland last week, more pictures to come.

xo
s
ok this shit is really hilarious. you will LOL for real.

p.s. this is NOT what i am hungry for and not what i downloaded, but it is funny

Hey You!

2007, bye.
I know I've been real spotty about posting.
Sorry, I'll try and be better in 2008.
This one will be a quickie as I have to run out and run some errands before I squeeze in some garage sew time.
The day after christmas Travis, Papi, and I drove up to my brothers near Sacramento and went mountain biking and such and had a great time.
Tomorrow at 1 o'clock at an undisclosed location in Koreatown, my parents and Travis will meet for the very first time.
I should take pictures of that, It would be so uncomfortable that the lens would probably shatter from the sheer tension in the air. Kidding. Kind of. See in all their 65+ years they have never met anyone I have dated. Ever. And they are, let's see, how should I say this, uh, "quirky". And not very talkative. Most likely they will just stare at us eating, quietly judging.
Wish us luck.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great year and learned a lot of things and were kind to each other, and if not, you have tomorrow.
Love,
S

I'm sorry but this is really cute. I'm really into my dog right now.

He actually didn't stay in the bag for long and ran along side 3 bikes and another bigger dog for 4-5 miles.
Like a little champion. I am fully aware of how that last sentence sounded. I am not sorry.

arrrrrrrg!

i hate sewing.
i hate right now so much.
because of a totally lame contractor
i had to take off two nights of work
and had very little sleep
and sharp, shooting pain in my left wrist
that is giving advil a run for it's money.
after this little hump i want to go somewhere
i don't have to think or make any decisions.
just ride my bike into the sunset and people
make all my decisions for me.
but good ones.

bok! bok!

this is really a cat costume.
papi hates it.
i was going to dress him up as dracula for halloween (because he bites)
but a chicken is pretty cool.
i'm in ny. it's great
it's raining and not too cold, light jacket weather.
such a relief from california on fire.
so sad.
it's been hectic trying to find a sewing machine in the city
after much rigamoroll (cab/ subway/ walked to 6 different places, once which didn't exist)
i found one at kmart and lugged in on back to my buddy kevin's,

where i am staying.
carrying a sewing machine box down city blocks and up subway stairs proved to be very difficult since i carpel tunnelled the f out my hands these past couple weeks from non stop sewing.
now i'm back, safe in a really cute place on the l.e.s. sipping on some green tea.
ahhhh. kevin is in la. sad he's never here when i am, glad i get a bed allllll to myself. nice. but i get to see him in la on sat
for staeci and jason's wedding.

unhee scored two new accounts today!
so far i am 2 for 2.
i have appointments tomorrow as well.
wish me luck.

it rubs it's skin

i need these, boots

they are the color of 'flesh' crayolas and since they are pull on boots they hang as if you pulled on someone's leg.
they are $810

please?
i'll be your best friend.
thank you.

pork out

i have eaten 2 corn muffins a half of my delicious sangwich, then half of travis' delicious sangwich, both left over from lunch, and two mini rice cakes. all because i am procrastinating or nervous about finishing sewing up this dress.
i'm a nervous eater. i'm also a procrastinEater (pretty good, right? i just made that up).
what is it about being of the verge of making something good that scares you to procrastinate doing it until sometimes it is too late? so lame but i do it all the time.
that being said, back into the dungeon for me. it's actually not that bad b/c i just bought The Fountainhead unabridged audiobook, 30 hours! I'm 3 hours in and totally sucked in. I might be the only person who hasn't read it (i know, i know) so dont' tell me anything. Did y'all know that i'm practically illiterate? i mean i can read, but i don't so...
hahahahahahahaha i also bought an "erotica" audiobook and it is HILARIOUS b/c it's done in an english accent and she says things like "poon" and "dong" but in the accent. it's hilarious. hey i spend days down in the garage, it gets dull, i bet you can hear me laughing outside into the alley.
ok ok. bye.

straight from my body onto your plate, sqwak

so i've been having crazy convoluded dreams lately. i won't bore you with all the details but yesterday i dreampt that "they" wanted me to build a bird army. one of really intelligent, evil birds, and one of stupid birds. and everytime i turned a bird into one of my intelligent, evil birds, "they" would turn them insane and i knew this because they looked different, their beaks turned down, eyes narrowed. and i kept trying to turn them back but they would fly away and join "their" forces.
What "they" really wanted was an army of insane, intelligent, and evil birds and and army of stupid insane birds and were using my powers of birdarmadry (i just made this up) to do it!

then this morning i woke up crying a little bit because my friend nick who works the door at the chach died (in my dream).
he was a part of this elite flying group, NAPA,

The Navigational Association of Precision Aircraft, stupid name i know but i didnt make it up, my brain did while i was away. So anyway, he didn't die in flight but I think was poisoned by his mother. He is deathly allergic to sugar, and although he tried as best he could to avoid it, there was some in his hair gel, that's what made it sticky, a miniscule amount always snuck in, which he could handle. But this one day, someone tainted his food with sugar and he died. Also I think my friend Allison did it to him before he died.

my interpretations: army of birds: no clue. maybe fernet branca.

NAPA: Well I don't know about the flying part, The killing by mother is b/c I was listening to Fresh Air with Terry Gross late lastnight and she had on author Alice Sebold who has a new book out where the character kills her elderly mother. And Nick's brother, Joe is diabetic, so there's the sugar allergy. I have no idea why Allison had sex with him though. Maybe because Nick is a big, buff guy and Allison has big boobs?

Remember that sammyhagar van halen video with the blue angels that they played at graduations?

Anyway, I gotta go sew in my garage and finish my samples.
tonight I will be working the grey ant show at smashbox, i'll try and take pictures but most likely i will be running around like an insane bird dressing skinny girls.

s

I know you got soul

it has (italics) been a long time.
i hate that, when you start reading a blog (jimmy) and then they just stop.
no note, no goodbye. poof.
not that i think anyone reads this. maybe a couple people. (hi! hi!)
well today i literally slept all day and let me tell you i feel like a real winner <---not really.
i woke up a bit hung over and i dont remember the last time i was hungover
but considering i have an overwhelming (shit ton) of work to do in less than 10 days
i don't have a day to waste.
it's 2am and i woke up at 11.30pm and made some corncranberry muffins and honeybutter.
i'm wondering if i should go down into the garage and work till morning or just try and sleep till 6am
and try to get on a normal schedule.
where do you get getupandgo? some pep? some people are so naturally go go go all the time.
how do they do that. i wish i had a robot switch where i can just go into robot mode, then become human
again.
so maybe this entry is not so exciting, but cut me some slack, you dont want to spook me do you?
i just got back.

i did figure out yesterday that pápi
is afraid of masking tape (pre existing trauma?)
and it was really fun to play "Joan of Arc" with his toy where i tape it up to my coffee table leg and he trys to rescue it
before she "burns" to death.

I always think pictures make blogs better so here we go.
Lately I have been obsessed with this:

jespleleta insisted i would love this and she was right. The professor on keys, SO good:

jenny in my new favorite dress. part of my fall collection. so easy breezy. if you see me, i'll probably be wearing it:

or this: though nobody bought it. i guess floor length flannel is a hard sell, i still love it.
